Hunkydoree: That seems a bit simplistic. The difference between the value of a property and what the bank recoups, can't be so very big, that it puts us all into such huge debt. Regardless of what everyone believes, I think we are being taken for a ride. The government can turn round and find money for all sorts of schemes, without there being an outcry of "WASTE, WASTE", "SHAME, SHAME". Take, for instance, the £1 billion for the DUP, in Northern Ireland. NOW, explain austerity. Please. That isn't true. Most of the property goes to auction. They are only looking for the monies they are owed. Which is why thru are so cheap.
It isn't just property that is a problem. It's lending beyond means and in today's economy they have changed it to the degree the average person cannot afford to get into the housing market.
To a degree the public is. We are made accountable for not paying our mortages. The banks get bailed out. But if we didn't do it we'd be in deep shit without a paddle. Not just in our own economy but world wide.
The DUP payment was so the tories remained in control of the country. Again if they didn't or another party didn't it would cause chaos. I would of opted personally for another election. May's bluff was called.
So what are you doing to change it besides you and I having this conversation?
