I love avocados too
Now I am jealous of you. But enjoy your avocados.
I'm not into avocados at all. Nonetheless, since you love them, I'm glad you found an abundant source.
Yummy
I love avocado's & the health benefits are fantastic..I never use butter or a margarine on seeded low carb toast instead I spread avocado.
Hi UnfayzedWe have a tree but it does not bear any fruit. Apparently it is a male. I have two avo pips in water almost ready to go into the ground, so maybe in a few years we will have avos here.
Oh good unfayzed but me I do not like the taste or texture
Red,They make fantastic sandwiches with a bit of black pepper. Some people add salt.
I love avocados in salad, with cheese and tomatoes. I put some vinaigrette sprinkled with dill. Yummy!Very good for you and reach in potassiumApart from that, I started growing the stones in pots filled with water. About 6 weeks later they had roots. I then put them in pots with earth and a lot of water. Now, a month later, a small leaf appeared in the centre.I think it will be a few years before they will grow into a tree where I can pick my own avocados but, at least I´ve tried.
Peggy told me that she grew her seed in water until it grew roots. Then she planted it in a pot in the house until it was about 3 feet which is when she put it in the ground outside. She said she moved it all around her yard until she found the right spot and three years later it gave her babies. Both of us had heard it would take ten years to have fruit but she can now testify it only took three. So I'm going to try to grow again.
Most things grow happily in water so try that method
Wish me and my grey green thumbs luck.
Avos grow very easily. Had a couple growing in the compost bin but the cows ate it before I could transplant it. I killed some of it by digging into the compost and not seeing the seedlings before it was too late. Actually too cood here for avos but seems like they just bear smaller fruit.
Good for you ..enjoy them.I wish i could love them but find them tasteless and the softness of them i do not like...
(raises hand)I'm the mango guy... I did have a friend with an avocado tree who couldn't give them away fast enough. Too bad she 'sold the house and moved to the West Coast'.I know, that's a line from a Billy Joel song, but it's true.
My bad Chat, apologies. I knew you had a Mango tree but I thought I remembered an avocado blog but it was your neighbors tree. I was still jealous.Oh my goodness these avocados are to die for.
Woohoo congrats sis. That is a yummy and lovely fruit, wish your family enjoy it and stay healthy everyday.I am a breakfast person. You won’t find me waking up to make a gourmet pancakes-and-eggs-benedict breakfast every day (although I’ve been known to take my time on weekend brunch); instead, I will often blend up a smoothie to kick-start my day. I typically make at least one smoothie with avocado per week at home and tend to also pick up one from my local juice bar sometime during the week. They are refreshing, filling but not heavy, and delicious fuel for my mornings.
Oh my gosh I've never seen one like that and I shop International Markets. So I'm trying to grow the avocado seeds. I try, I fail and I keep on trying.
